About Luna

Founder of Joy Channel

From the Chief Vibe Officer:

What does it mean to build a future where all people can thrive? As someone who spent my whole career working towards liberation, that's what I strive for.

I have worked for years as a DEI (or JEDI, or DEIB) professional - consulting and training organizations on diversity, equity and inclusion, and specifically developing initiatives and skillsets within organizations so they no longer need my services. Concurrently, I’ve also worked for years as a performer - comedian, actress, playwright, musician, writer and producer. As a performer, I know the power of creativity to reimagine and design the world we live in.

As the founder of Joy Channel, I dreamed of an organization that provides a multidisciplinary approach to working towards justice, equity, and inclusion. We know we have to do multiple things at once - change narratives and counter propaganda, and provide information and experiences so people can not only learn - but connect and heal.

As a comedian, I saw how quickly laughter could illuminate, connect and provide clarity to understanding something (like the impact of stereotypes) and I experienced the feeling of belonging in a comedy club- where strangers could become friends, while I witnessed workplace trainings leaving people drained and uninspired.

As an early young professional, while I heard business leaders grandstand about “equity” while hiding salaries; it was the drag queens and burlesque dancers I would perform with that first modeled pay transparency and equitable business practices to me. As an actress and a playwright, it was working with directors who understood belonging and strength-based skills development that would be a roadmap for my ongoing leadership journey.

Information does not equal transformation. While many of the approaches to DEI focus on explaining, or lecturing, Joy Channel is founded on the understanding that the how people learn and grow around concepts of equity is just as important as the “what'“. In that sense, Joy Channel is, like it’s founder, multiple things at once- we are both a production and training company.

We focus on changing narratives through media and storytelling and provide tailored experiences where we grow and learn together, and we invite you to reimagine with us.
